Bee -Bot Activity Challenge

There was a challenge that we had to make clear instructions for the bee bot to follow. There weren't that many arrows to push for your bee bot.The buttons it had on it were up,down, left and right. After we wrote our instructions and checked it with Koka Jo we made our track for the bee bots.

The track was so when we were pressing the buttons that the bee bots had to go in we made it go in that direction. The teacher gave all of us some advice on how we could make it better if we could improve on it. But another thing that we had to do was that we had to press the arrows in the directions your instructions said.

It was very difficult for some of us because we had to make each space 15cm because that is how long the bee bots move each and every space. I say that was so fun and creative of everyone Kia Kaha Kia Manawanui!

TUaHInE LigHthOusE MetAphOR

Last week we were learning about google drawing on our chromebook and the Tuahine lighthouse. Once we all learned how to make one we got the chance and tried to make a replica of the Tuahine lighthouse but on our chromebooks. We also learned how to make a link on our google drawing of the Tuahine lighthouse. I made a link in my picture of the Tuahine lighthouse. The link is called  always shine like a bright light.

The reason I picked to say I always shine like a bright light is because Lighthouses shine a bright light to lead any boat to their direction and so they can come to shore. Another reason that I chose that sentence is because kids at this school shine there way to shore.

Bee Bots Activity Time!!

My turn with the bee bots in reading time

First we got these squares on a piece of paper. Koka Rozie told us to draw what we saw in the book like a jungle or an animal. Second thing we did we had to cut out the squares and get a bee bot. A bee bot is a robot that has these arrows on them and if you press one of the buttons like right and then hit go it would move the way you pushed the button in that direction. That is what a bee bot is, some of us learned what they were from Makey Makey in LTP. Once we finished we cut out all our squares and put them in a pile while either waiting for a grid to be free or waiting for the tape so we could make another grid.

The grid weas for the squares and the bee bots. The bee bots had to be on the grid because the squares inside of the grids were for the bee bots to turn and move around. The squares were for when we drew all the places we had to put them anywhere around the grid. Then we had to get a bee bot and press the buttons for the directions it would go in. When I tried it went forward 4 times then left 1 time then forward 2 times.

Once we pressed the button direction we wanted them to go we pressed go and then the teacher told us to not touch the bee bots and let them try to figure out where you actually wanted it to go. But sometimes it wouldn't work you might have accidently pressed right instead of left or you could have pressed backwards so it went backwards. So sometimes you actually have to be careful of what button you press. When we practiced a lot most of us got it. Once we thought we got it all sorted out we asked our teacher if she could record it. And on that try when she was recording us we sometimes got it and sometimes not.

But that was ok if we didn't get it we just kept on doing it and practicing and once we all got it correct. We were all so happy that we noticed that we could connect the bee bots like a train, we actually learned from Raphi ,he is in our class. Once we got over being so proud of ourselves we did our karakia and went off to morning tea and that was it. Whoever is reading this thank you for taking the time to read this.

What do you think our next blog post will be about?
